Here in East Liberty, Ohio the leaves have started to change, there's pumpkin spice all around, and it seems like night comes abruptly all of a sudden the sun disappears. The inevitable transition from fall to winter is ahead of us. It's the closing of the shaved ice season.
Reflecting on the food truck journey
Before we move to the next chapter, we look back at the journey we experienced throughout the year. From all the highs to all the lows. There were events we did really well. We got a glimpse of what this thing could be. And there were events we struggled at and lost money. There were moments of inspiration and excitment along with unexpected plot twists. Along the way though, there were amazing people we got to serve. There were lots of tiny little moments throughout the summer that contributed to creating our very first, but very unforgettable food truck season. We tested syrups, added menu items, removed menu items and got advice from other vendors that were kind enough to show us the ropes. Our living room morphed into a temporary culinary storage room. It became the summer of Zach Bryan lyrics in the truck. We confirmed (what we already knew), I am not a map reader. We also got a taste of what it is like to have your spouse as your business partner and coworker. That was new! Sometimes it was really fun and sometimes we disagreed on everything right down to the order and organization of syrup station. We learned that there's many more hours that go into the prep and clean up compared to the actual event hours. As we close the door and move onto winter, we will carry with us all the things we learned, the memories we made, and the growth we achieved throughout the summer.
So what will we do this winter when its snowing? We'll travel and see different places. We will keep perfecting our shaved ice recipes and explore new menu options. We'll take some culinary classes and learn as much as we can. We'll look at process flows and marketing items and see where we can do better. We'll visit cool places, try new foods and we'll share everything we learn with you!
So, we raise our glasses to the season that was and we toast to the exciting adventures that await us in the next chapter. Many thanks to all the event coordinators that hosted this year. And thank you to all our customers that allowed us to serve them this summer. We couldn't have done it without you. Thank you for an incredible season!
